bruised
as the pit you swallow
nails raw at the pew
i promise i only wanted to be
like the sun and moon for you
but i sit beside bereft of pride
unsure how to move
this bare before conclusion
some conviction
and still dance how we used to
so by the dirt
on my dragging heels
i am reminded once again
despite how sure
no matter how pure
the heart often fails
to predict its stay and discern
of lust and limerence
which preys on the saturated
and impatient
because this life
has much to choose of love
with more to lose
but we seethed for our unsaid
in lips to undo
as if our weakness holds proof
to the choice already made
before skin had to bruise.
